Workshops

At Theatre Ninety Nine, we run a Tudor workshop for Year 5 and a World War Two workshop for Year 6.

Both workshops use Drama to explore different History topics and are grounded in immersion, expression and engagement.

The Year 6’s will get to experience London in the Blitz and being evacuated to the countryside with soundscape, costume and improvisation. They will watch a performance from a professional actor telling the story of a woman from 1939 – explaining how the war changed women’s roles and contributions, alongside engaging curriculum/drama lead activities based on propaganda, creating their own work and hot seating.

The Year 5’s will experience an immersion into Tudor England (both as a peasant and a royal), receive a facetime call from Henry the 8th and go on a journey to find him a wife! (This includes interactive games) There is also a curriculum based activity about Inventories along with many others rooted in creativity, making learning engaging and fun.

Both workshops are an hour long per class and will include a follow up activity pack for the children to do in class at a time that suits you, using the information and characters they have created in the workshop. This not only solidifies learning but extends the 1 hour workshop. The information pack is sent via email and I also bring materials for each child to use meaning they have a keepsake from the experience, or this can be used for displays.

These workshops alleviate all the stress and added expense of a trip (as I come straight to you!) creating a memorable and enriching learning experience.
